Bayonne Bridge Navigational Clearance Project
Bayonne Bridge was known as the world’s longest steel arch span for at least 45 years since 1931. However, its initial 151-foot clearance became an inconvenience for shipping vessels passing through while en route to the ports of New York and New Jersey. The increase in clearance to 215 feet made it possible for modern freighters to pass through and improved the logistics for ports reliant on their ships passing through the arc.
